News - ADM Supports local charity New PerspectiveNew PerspectiveAs part of their ongoing 'Computers for Charities' scheme, ADM Computing have donated a refurbished PC to a local charity New Perspective. New Perspective is a Canterbury based community charity organisation which works to support people living with and affected by HIV as well as fight the spread of the disease in East Kent. One of the projects that New Perspective has undertaken is raising awareness of HIV in order to prevent further transmission. By raising awareness of HIV within the community, New Perspective hopes to reduce the stigma and discrimination that many people living with HIV experience. The need in the community is great but due to limited funds New Perspective currently only operates a drop-in once every month. New Perspective also operates 2 confidential help lines for those who may want to speak confidentially about HIV. The organisation doesn't have office facilities at the moment and are looking for funding. Having a permanent base will enable New Perspective to hold more regular peer support groups and hence to help more people who are isolated and depressed following their diagnosis. It will also help them to develop the services on offer so that they are better equipped to cater for their diverse clientele. Lillian from New Perspective said "The computer received from ADM will be used by our volunteer workers to communicate with clients, produce our newsletter and to plan our work. It will also help the organisation to communicate with potential funding bodies. We are therefore very grateful to have benefited from this programme." If you would like to speak to someone about HIV please call our confidential help lines: 07932268270 or 07956321696 Similarly, any charities that feel they would benefit from a charity pc donation should call Ana Smith on 01227 473512 or email: ana@adm-computing.co.uk |
